Custom Brand Identity Refresh

WORKSBUREAU is a highly acclaimed architecture firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. They have been recognized for their outstanding work both locally and internationally. Their expertise spans across various sectors, including commercial, cultural, multifamily and single-family residential, interior design, and urban planning projects.

Embracing the energy of moving to a new office location, WORKSBUREAU decided to revisit their brand identity; one they have been utilizing for over 10 years. We reviewed their existing brand elements such as their logos, brand colors, typography, marketing collateral, social media graphics, and brand consistency with their company website. I created a document that consolidated these elements for us to step back, reflect, and look at the bigger picture of what needed to stay and what needed to change. After selecting items to revisit, we worked closely together to redesign the secondary logo and created a new submark called the “stamp”. The stamp uses an abbreviated name “WRX”, a play on “Works”. We rotated brand colors for the stamp logo to keep a sense of play in their everyday work.

The final deliverable was a Brand Identity Guidelines booklet — essentially the brand’s user manual. These guidelines are clearly defined standards that communicate how the brand should be represented, ensuring brand consistency in digital and physical applications.

“We have worked with Liz to refine our existing brand and document our brand in specification format. We also utilize Liz’s services as our social media manager. Without her involvement, I don’t think we would have been able to move the needle on our own. Working with Liz has been a pleasure. She listens very well and is highly creative and responsive to refining our ideas while adding new strategies for an integrated solution. Liz is extremely collaborative but equally assertive in bringing things to resolution — which is a great balance when working with creatives.”

— Rob Gaspard, AIA, Partner, WORKSBUREAU

“After more than 10 years since forming WORKSBUREAU, we hired Elizabeth for an assessment of our brand and its alignment with our core mission. Elizabeth listened to what drives our practice, how we work, and what we aspire to create. Through a subtle refresh, she brought a focus to our brand that I didn’t think necessary prior to the process. I couldn’t be happier with the results. ”

— Richard Jensen, AIA, LEED AP, Partner, WORKSBUREAU

“To me, the main challenge of the WORKSBUREAU brand refresh was to project firm identity — with an understated forward energy. Liz worked with our core group, reached into our history, voice, and messaging. The resulting kinetic logotype and ‘stamp’ infused the marque with a new vibrancy, speaking silently for our creative endeavor. The fresh insight and graphic talent that Liz Sydnor brings to the room were key to the success of this process.”

— Ben Nesbeitt, LEED AP, Partner, WORKSBUREAU
